Preventing elder abuse

In Western Australia elder abuse is defined as: 'Any act which causes harm to an older person and occurs within an informal relationship of trust, such as family or friends'. It is estimated that 12,500 older West Australians could be experiencing elder abuse.

The Department of Local Government and Communities (DLGC) works to reduce elder abuse in WA through the provision of information designed to support individuals and service providers.
