The Department of Local Government and Communities partners with the community services sector to promote recreational activities, information, support and programs for seniors in the Western Australian community.
Major funded services
Seniors Recreation Council of WA - SRCWA is the peak body for organisations supporting seniors' involvement in sport and recreation. It develops and implements programs to foster the participation of people aged 50 years and older in physical and mental activity.
Older People's Rights Service - provides free, confidential legal information, advocacy and advice for those seniors experiencing, or at risk of experiencing elder abuse. The service also undertakes community education with seniors groups, service providers and targeted stakeholders in order to enhance the knowledge, awareness and understanding of elder abuse.
