More than 200 local governments, residents, community organisations and businesses have had their say on the future of local government in WA by commenting on phase one of the Local Government Act Review.
Public consultation for phase one of the review of the Local Government Act closed on 9 March 2018.
The paper canvased options for major reforms to modernise WA's local government sector, including topics such as councillor conduct, training, accessibility of public information through the use of technology, how CEOs are appointed and new provisions for dealing
The review is being supported by a reference group and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries has engaged with the local government sector throughout the review process. Workshops in 15 locations across the State were held in November and December 2017, with over 500 people sharing their views.
